Final Exam PSCI 347
Dear Students in PSCI 347, I am sending you the take home
examination in Disaster Politics. This exam is not an open-book exam.
Nor is it a research paper which requires footnotes. You have one full
week to study and complete the exam. Your name is to be one each
page of the exam. Upon completion you are to email me the signed
Honor Code pledge and the completed exam no later than Tuesday
December 6, 2022 at 9am. No exam will be accepted for any reason
after that date and time. If you were unable to complete the exam
you are required to email me what you have completed and your
grade will then be based on just the material you emailed with
reduction of points for questions unanswered.
Following the same directions as your midterm exam you are to study
hard but once you complete studying you are to sit down and write the
exam. You are not permitted to use notes, texts, or any form of
information once you start to write the exam. This is not an open
book exam. My computer software is able to inform me when this
regulation has not been carried out. Should you not follow the
regulations for taking and completing the exam this matter will be
reported to the Chair of the department. I strongly recommend not
violating these regulations as you risk getting a failing grade for the
exam and the course. Study hard, commit to owning the material, use
your intellect, and do the best work you can. Make sure that your
answers have no opinions and are factual and objective.
Part I, the DDR’s 50 points) (Define, Discuss, and relate) in ten full
sentences, ten terms out of 20. Define requires you to write a full
definition; discuss requires you to amplify what was stated in the
definition without restating the definition; Relate refers to detailing
the significance of the term only to the discipline of disaster politics.
Vague general answers will receive no credit. Each DDR is worth 5
points. Separate and clearly label the three parts of the DDR and
underline the word define, discuss and relate.
Part II of the exam consists of highly detailed essays. Each essay is
divided into segments. Most of the essays have four distinct
segments. For each segment you are to write a minimum of 2 full
objective, factual paragraphs. You must integrate both class lectures
and assigned readings into your answers. Your essays must be at the
level of a college 300 level course. General answers which
demonstrate little knowledge of the lecture material and assigned
